Pokemon Day 2020 – Typing My Favorite Typing of Pokemon From Each Type.

Pokemon has always been one of my favorite franchises. Growing up having to share one console with my brothers, we were lucky to each have our own Gameboy. Pokemon quickly became my go to game afterwards since I didn’t have to share it with anyone. So for this Pokemon day, I wanted to share my favorite Pokemon of each typing. Note that some may not be my absolute favorite and I had to fill the gap in somewhere.

Bug – Ninjask

Ninjask is a super fast ninja bug. What’s not to love about it! This little bug has lots of potential if you train it the right way.

Dark – Darkrai

The only legendary on this list, Darkrai is the embodiment of darkness. It lives in complete darkness and can make anyone terrified by it. The most terrifying thing is that this pokemon can put people into an endless sleep and fest on their nightmares by tormenting them in their sleep. It is a good thing that this series is child friendly.

Dragon – Flygon

I like Flygon purely by design. He may not look like the coolest dragon, but something about his almost bug like features make me adore the little guy.

Electric – Raichu

Get out of here with Pikachu. Raichu is where it is at! I don’t understand why the Pokemon Company doesn’t show as much love toward Raichu as they do with Pikachu and Pikchu. Raichu may not be as marketable to everyone, but it has a cooler design and stats to boost. I dislike what they did to it in Aloha.

Fairy – Klefki

There are not many Fairy type Pokemon that I like at this time. I decided to go with Klefki because I like the idea of ridiculous items becoming Pokemon. It should be super effective against cat and dog Pokemon since all it has to do is jingle and render them useless.

Fighting – Gallade

Gallade excels in the cool factor. Most people would flock to Lucario or Machamp, but a well tune Gallade could eat them for breakfast. The mega form of Gallade elevates him further by adding a cape; giving off a heroic look.

Fire – Blaziken

Another Pokemon that I like purely on design, Blaziken is one of my favorite Fire starters. Blaziken has the speed and power to be an offensive powerhouse, but it’s number of weaknesses hold it back from carrying a team.

Flying – Rowlet

I love everything about Rowlet. My favorite animals are owls, so when I saw Rowlet, it was love at first sight. That face and bow tie melts my heart every time I see it! It currently sits as my number 2 favorite Pokemon of all time.

Ghost – Cofagrigus/Runerigus

There is something about Cofagrigus and Runerigus that appeals to me. It could be my past interest in Egyptian history that drew me to Cofagrigus, or I like the idea of spirits possessing artifacts. Either way, both of these Pokemon come from the Yamask family, so I decided to cheat and include both of them.

Grass – Bulbasaur

There he is. My number 1 favorite Pokemon so happens to be Pokedex entry #001. I started to love Bulbasaur ever since the Charizard chads declared him the weakest and uncool. Well I stick with my little underdog and strive for a world where Bulbasaur is recognized as popular as stupid Charizard.

Ground – Sandygast/Palossand

It is a sandcastle possessed by a ghost. How could you not love this thing! Again, not the MPV in most fights, but it can get sand everywhere which is an annoyance.

Ice – Arctozolt

The fossil Pokemon in Sword and Shield are all abominations. They all should not exist, but I’m glad Arctozolt is a thing. The typing is what made me keep it in my original team. An Ice/Electric typing covers a lot of ground, and it’s high defense stats made it a tank in most cases.

Normal – Furret

Most of the time I play through the Johto region, I end up with a Sentret that eventually evolves into a Furret. Sooner or later, it becomes my HM user since it can learn a decent number of them, including Surf! While not the strongest normal type, Furret has a furry place in my heart.

Poison – Toxapex

This defensive powerhouse quickly became one of my favorites. I like having Pokemon that can take a hit, but Toxapex can be a nightmare when set up properly. Its unique move, Baneful Bunker, not only protects it, but poisons the opponent if it comes into physical contact. If it has the Merciless ability as well, all you have to do is attack with poison attacks for guarantee critical hits and a recovery held item like Leftovers or Black Sludge to become an unbreakable tank.

Psychic – Alakazam

The OG psychic powerhouse, it is hard to dislike Alakazam and how great it is. You would think that with its high IQ (as well as all the other psychic Pokemon) that they would take over society and create a super intellectual world. But no, it is maybe too smart for that. In the original games, this Pokemon was a nightmare since it had few weaknesses; and the ones who could deal good damage were weak against its attacks. Talk about first generation balance.

Rock – Bastiodon

Out of all the rock Pokemon, I don’t know why I like Bastiodon the most. It could be particularly due to my fondness of strong fortresses and barriers. Bastiodon is a walkable wall that makes up its low attack power with its strong defense.

Steel – Aegislash

When I first saw Honedge, I thought we had reached peak Pokemon designs. But then Aegislash came along and I thought no other new Pokemon would beat its design. It is a sword! Who wouldn’t like having a sentient sword that you could use without having to wield it. I mean you could use it as a real sword and shield, however the whole aspect of it possessing your body may sound off putting. But if you think about it, you and Aegislash could work out a partnership; defending the world with your combined powers (kinda like the concept in Shaman King!)

Water – Camorant

Remember earlier when I said no other Pokemon design could beat Aegislash? Introducing Camorant! This doofus looking bird stole my heart when I first saw it. It is just so goofy looking that I had to get it the first moment I could. Fun story, my Camorant won the championship for me in my first playthrough of Sword. I thought Leon’s Charizard was the strongest Pokemon in the world? Sadly, it could not defend itself against a fish launched at Mach 3.

And those are my favorite Pokemon in each category. Tune in next generation when a new derpy Pokemon is reveled and wins my heart.

Thanks for reading!
